The couple is renting an apartment at Arte, one of the area's most expensive new developments.
President Trump is relocating to Mar-a-Lago, his vast Palm Beach home, as his stint in office draws to a conclusion. His daughter and son-in-law look to be heading to Florida as well.
According to a source familiar with the arrangement, First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, top presidential aide Jared Kushner, have agreed to lease a condominium in Arte. The stunning, pyramid-shaped skyscraper, designed by Italian architect Antonio Citterio, is regarded one of the most expensive new seaside buildings in Miami's Surfside district. It's also one of the most expensive in the neighborhood, with its penthouse recently selling for $33 million to a New York private-equity executive, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Ms. Trump and Mr. Kushner agreed to lease a big, unfurnished unit in the building for at least a year. According to Zillow, properties of that size in comparable neighborhoods generally rent for tens of thousands of dollars per month. The agreement is understood to be a stopgap solution while the couple constructs a home on a $32 million parcel they just acquired on Miami's Indian Creek Island.
The pair could not be reached for comment right away.
The 16-unit building's apartments have direct elevator access with fingerprint recognition technology, deep wraparound patios with Roman travertine ceilings, European white oak flooring, and temperature-controlled parking.
There's a 75-foot heated indoor lap pool, a private rooftop tennis court, a fitness facility, a children's playground, and a residents' lounge in the building. According to a source acquainted with the situation, while the building has 24-hour security, the couple will be bringing additional protection. The building's sales manager is Douglas Elliman.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Ms. Trump and Mr. Kushner rented a high-end property in Washington, D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood from Chilean business billionaire Andrónico Luksic for the duration of the Trump presidency.
